We celebrate several festivals and learn many life values through them.
Vidyarambham is one such important Hindu tradition. The observance of Vidyarambham marks the final and tenth day of the Navratri celebrations and is considered an auspicious day for initiating learning and knowledge-seeking, especially in young children.
This ceremony is also known as ‘Ezhuthiniruthu,' in Malayalam.
In this practice young children, between 3-5 years, are introduced to the world of knowledge: literature, music, dance, and arts (inclusing folk arts).
At The Little Legend Pre-school, we had organized the ‘Ezhuthiniruthu’ ceremony. We were blessed to have Sri. K. A. Unnithan, prominent writer, lyricist and member of Kerala Sahitya Parishat as our chief guest. A large number of students and parents were present to grace the occasion.
A few toddlers were blessed to seek blessings from Sri. K. A. Unnithan, who initiated them into the world of letters.
In the ceremony, children first wrote the mantra ‘Om Hari Sri Ganapataye Namah’ in a tray filled with grains of rice. These practices hold a special significance - writing on rice grains symbolizes acquisition of knowledge that leads to prosperity.
Furthermore, the audience was delighted to watch a few performances put up by the students of the school.
